1. General

Novoli is an app for managing a shared family household. The service is operated by Ronny Or (רוני אור) as a private individual.

Using the service means you accept these terms and the privacy policy. If you do not accept them, please do not use the service.

This document also contains the warnings and limitations worth knowing before you rely on the service. Section 4 — allergies, sensitivities and health — is the most important of them, and is worth reading even if you read nothing else.

2. Definitions

"User" — anyone who registers for or uses the service. "Family" — the group of users attached to a single household account. "User content" — everything users enter: shopping lists, products, stock, recipes and photographs.

3. Who may open an account, and use by children

Opening a family account is for people aged 18 and over. That condition applies to opening the account, not to using the service. Joining an existing family account as a member is for people aged 14 and over, and the inviting adult declares this at the time of the invitation.

Children in the family may use the service with their own accounts. That use is the responsibility of the parent or guardian who invited them.

We are aware that these terms cannot bind a minor the way they bind an adult, and we do not pretend otherwise. What we rely on is the parent or guardian.

Each user is responsible for keeping their own login details safe. A household account has different roles and permissions; how they are shared out among family members is for them to decide, not us.

4. Allergies, sensitivities and health — the most important section here

Novoli knows nothing about anyone's allergies, sensitivities or dietary restrictions. The system does not store that information at all, and therefore cannot take it into account.

In practical terms: when the service suggests a substitute for a missing ingredient, that suggestion is based on the recipe name and the ingredient name alone. It does not consider who is going to eat, and it cannot know that a particular substitute is dangerous for someone in your household.

So do not rely on the service for any decision involving an allergy, a sensitivity or health. Check every ingredient against the packaging or the manufacturer, and consult a doctor or dietitian as needed. Nothing in the service is medical or nutritional advice.

Pay particular attention to this where children use the service, or eat what has been prepared using it.

5. AI services

The service uses a single external AI provider — OpenAI — for reading a recipe, analysing a photo, suggesting a substitute for a missing ingredient, and generating generic product images for the catalog. The content relevant to that action is sent to it for that purpose.

All of this output is produced automatically and is not reviewed by a person before it is shown to you. It may be wrong, incomplete, or unsuitable for your situation, and it is not professional advice. See section 4 for anything touching allergies and health.

6. Accuracy of information

Most of the information in the service — products, quantities, stock and recipes — is entered by family members themselves. Some of it, including prices, comes from external sources such as the price files the supermarket chains publish. It may be inaccurate, out of date or incomplete. Anything that matters to you is worth verifying before you act on it.

7. Permitted and prohibited use

Do not use the service unlawfully; upload content that is offensive, false, or infringes someone else's rights; attempt to break into or disrupt the service or bypass its security; or harm other users' privacy.

8. User content

Content you upload stays yours. We take a limited, non-exclusive licence in it — to store it, process it and display it to your family members, for the purpose of operating the service and nothing else.

Whoever uploads content is responsible for being allowed to upload it — particularly photographs taken by someone else.

9. Recipes and content from external sources

The service lets you import a recipe from a link or a photo. When you do, the recipe's own details are stored with us — including the description and the preparation instructions as they appeared at the source — together with a link back to that source.

We do not control content originating from other websites, and are not responsible for its accuracy or availability.

Responsibility for lawful use of content imported from an external source rests with the user who imported it. If you hold rights in content that has been imported into the service and you would rather it were not there, write to us and we will remove it.

Catalogue information about products may draw on public databases.

10. Cost of the service

As things stand the service is provided free of charge, and it contains no payment mechanism at all.

We do not promise it will stay that way forever. If we begin charging, we will give notice in advance, and charging will not apply retroactively to use already made. Billing, renewal, cancellation and refund terms would be set at that point, subject to consumer protection law.

11. Availability and changes to the service

Novoli is at an early stage and is provided free of charge. We may change parts of the service, add or remove features, and roll changes out gradually. We do not undertake that it will be continuously available or error-free, nor that any given fault will be resolved within a particular time.

12. Liability — and what we do not attempt to exclude

This document is a warning, not a waiver. Its purpose is to explain what you can and cannot rely on Novoli for — not to exempt us from responsibility.

Under the Standard Form Contracts Law, a term in a standard-form contract exempting a supplier from liability for bodily injury is void. We do not include such a term here, and we do not attempt to exempt ourselves from liability for bodily injury.

Nothing in these terms is intended to remove a right the law gives you.

13. Your responsibility for your own content

Whoever uploads content to the service is responsible for it: for being permitted to upload it, and for harm its upload may cause someone else.

14. Governing law

These terms are governed by Israeli law.

15. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. We will give advance notice of a material change and update the date at the foot of this page. Continuing to use the service after that means accepting the updated version.
